From Wal-Mart…”Wii had a great December”

Figures are in from the holidays and Wal-Mart finally has good news to report.  Sales were up 1.6% from last December.  This is encouraging news following months of disapointing sales and negative media reporting.  Perhaps with the hire of a new ad company and healthy sales, Wal Mart will see its stock prices on the rise as we enter ‘07.

I’m sure there are lots of reasons for Wal Marts good December numbers, but electronics have to be a solid reason.  Early Dec sales of the Wii and other high demand electronics contributed to the gain.  In addition, the “Where’s a Wii” campaign in late December had to help as well.

Rather than focus on creating a high end clothing line to appeal to the wealthier customer, Wal-Mart should continue to enhance its electronics line, providing similar ptoducts as Best Buy at much cheaper prices.  Rather than try to mimic Target, be Wal Mart, one of the world’s largest and most successful companies.

Hope you all enjoyed the ice….if you ever had any.
