Crafts to PUD

Perhaps the biggest indication that Northwest Arkasnas has changed is the relocation of the Applegate Craft Festival to make room for a 57 acre PUD located within a mile from WMHQ.  The Bentonville Planning Commission, depite numerous questions and concerns, approved the former craft fair site to be zoned a PUD, or a mixed use development.

This step will allow the developer to begin moving forward on a nearly 1 million square feet development consisting of retail, office, and residential development.  The development will be anchored by a hotel and convention center.

PUD’s are a growing zoning option for developers, as they allow for greater flexibility and higher density.  In return, the city has the ability to mandate asthetic requirements and green space allocation through the large scale development process.

This development seems to be impressive from my sources.  I’m going to try and get my hands on a concept plan and let you know more info as I know more.
