WW II style dormatories may not be as far off as we thought.

Earlier this month during our radio show on KURM 790 AM we had a caller that asked us about World War II style dormatories.  She said that they could be the answer to help out the homeless and the “working man” who couldn’t afford to buy or rent a place.

I have to admit when I heard it I was thinking that there is no way we could go back to that, further no way anyone would want that.  We have extended stay hotels, HUD assisted apartment complexes (where rent can be as low as $100/month for qualified people), and a bunch of other options for people with low income.  So with our unbeatable number of jobs, and our relatively low cost of living, we should be just fine as an area.

It seems that there are people in Springdale that disagree with my analysis of this and have been trying to get a dormatory started.  There is an opinion piece about this on the Morning News website that can be found here.

What do you guys think?  Do we need this or is this a bad idea?
