Your New NWA…Baseball Stadiums and High Rises
You think Northwest Arkansas looks different than several years ago….just wait until several years from now. The city of Springdale has approved the budget for the new baseball stadium and the improvements that surround it.
As I’ve said before, I believe this project will spur more growth than any other recent project the area has seen over the past several years. The raw land and lack of infrastructure has slowed development in that area, and a baseball stadium will only cause an explosion of development in that immediate area.
Also yesterday, it was announced the Bentonville Planning commission will consider a 5 story building near SE A and 8th streets in downtown Bentonville. The developers plan a mized use development of retail on the first floor, office/condo on the 2nd floor, and luxury furnished apartments on the 3rd-5th floors. As we’ve talked about alot recently, these projects will begin creating a “niche” for downtown Bentonville, allowing for the completion in ‘09 of the Crystal Bridges Art Musem. Combined with the baseball stadium open as a AA baseball team, and the highway completion near the Promenade exit, perhaps these factors will give NWA it’s anticipated “tipping point.”
