Fayetteville Impact Fees
Yesterday the city of Fayetteville voted to approve a resolution stating that a majority of aldermen support the road impact fees. This issue is to go to a popular vote on April 10 to see if it can pass. Some people see this as double taxation, and others see it as a necessary tax to fix our roads.
I believe that someone needs to explain why Fayetteville already has the highest taxes, and is looking at increasing tax some more. When do we say enough is enough and make the city be accountable for the high taxes they collect from us. I would like to see someone go through the budget of the city and find a place where they are wasting our dollars and put that towards the road issues. Yes we need to fix the roads, but do we need to increase taxes again?
Who does this affect? It affects the entire Northwest Arkansas MSA. Any building that is to go on will now cost the developer/builder more. Do you think they are just going to eat this cost? I don’t! They are going to pass it on to each homeowner when they sell the house they’ve built. But wait you rent? Well guess what the person who owns the property you rent had to pay more and now is passing the cost to you in the form of higher rents. Own your home and don’t plan on moving? Ok do you buy anything? Each and every business that rents space or builds will have to pass the cost on to you.
Do you see what I am saying?
Shea and I will be talking in depth on this matter on our radio show Saturday on Newstalk 1030 KFAY AM at 10:00 AM.
