Bentonville future land use plan in question.

Bentonville planning commission and the city planning staff do not see eye to eye on a request to rezone a section of McCollum in Bentonville. The city planning staff say that the request to rezone the property from medium density residential to residential office is consistent with the future land use plan. The planning commission however is allready commenting that they will vote it down when it comes to them because the land to the west is still residential.

The level of zoning being requested is the lowest level of commercial zoning and would allow people to build offices on the land.

It should be an interesting conversation between the developers that requested this and the planning commission. I don’t understand why you would vote down something that follows the future land use plan for Bentonville unless there are certain things that would have to happen in order for the future use plan to be valid. These items could be new or updated roads, more commercial property zoned nearby, or simply they feel like the plans for offices there would not yet fit into Bentonville’s plan.
