When less bad news is good news
In these economic times all a person can hope for is a little ray of light. We keep hearing all of this bad news day after day. You know the economy is bad when the best news you can get is that there is less bad news to report.
Tom Reed is quoted in this article saying just that.
So what does that mean for us? There is certainly a lot of termoil in our real estate market. We built too much, sold too much, bought too much, but most importantly borrowed too much. Everywhere you look there are stalled building projects and signs falling down advertising 2006’s newest development.
I don’t actually think that it is as bad as we hear. There are definately places where it is really bad nationally and in our comunity but it isn’t all that bad. Any time you experience growth there are growing pains - unfortunately we didn’t correct the issue when we saw the first signs. Think about when you drove around a few years ago everything was for sale - now not so much. There used to be more Realtors in the area than there were houses to sell - now not so much.
I’ve spoken with several Realtors that are having a great year. They are selling more than they had in the past. There are deals to be had and there are still people buying. In fact most of the people that are out of the market now are the ones that really didn’t need to be in the market in the first place.
We will get out of this - we still have a great place to live. There is virtually no crime. The schools are outstanding. The streets are clean. The people are great. We will just have to be patient and realize that less bad news is one of the only good things we can hear.
